I have a question on the GDL52R.
For the ADS-B/In antenna, can I temporally (6-months) use an existing VHF antenna that is installed to a bulk-head BNC labeled 'hand-held'?
The best location for a new, dedicated antenna is under the back seat, but I would rather run the new coax when I have the interior out for the annual.
The doc says: "Standard 50 Ω vertically polarized antenna with a VSWR < 1.7:1 at 978 MHz and < 1.5:1 at
1090 MHz."
So, it looks like a regular VHF radio might work, but I am not a radio guy.

You need an L-band antenna. COM antennas are designed for peak performance in the 118-137MHz range. It might "work" for some reduced level of reception, but it certainly isn't close to the optimal antenna for that frequency range.
