Touchdown! Greaser!
I received a notice from the FAA today stating that Garmin's AHRS has a problem where it "resets" during a turn. The bulletin suggests that this is only a problem in certain areas of the world where the Earth's magnetic field lines of force are nearly perpendicular to the ground although it wouldn't surprise me if the real issue is a situation where the airplane's vertical axis goes beyond parallel to the field for an extended period during a turn which can occur if the bank angle plus latitude significantly exceeds 90°. The consequences are a loss of attitude and heading information for something like 45 seconds. According to the FAA this is no cause for an AD (good thing backup attitude instrumentation is required). YRMV.
