Garmin G5

I just got my plane out of annual. The G5 was installed several years ago and has not been updated, so I asked them to update it. Silly me didn't read all the release notes from each upgrade because there were a bunch of them. I just figured I'd deal with it.

I took it up today and noticed that all of the lights on the annunciator were lit. Prior to the upgrade, about the only one that did much was the "msg" light that would flash when the GNS 530W indicated a course change was due. That was a good thing.

Today, after the upgrade, all of the lights (except VLOC) was lit. And when the GNS 530 flashed "msg", the G5 "msg" light remained solid.

I'll call the shop tomorrow, but does this sound like a problem, or a feature?

Looks like a failure to communicate.

When you update 1 box, it’s generally a good idea to update them all, mismatches in updates can cause problems.

What other avionics do you have in your aircraft? Were the other avionics boxes also updated? It seems like the shop may have only updated the software on the G5 and not anything else.
