I recently swapped out my nexus 7 for a galaxy tab pro 8.4 I use avare as my free aviation app. I don't ever make a post like this but for anyone considering an android tablet for use in the cockpit I highly recommend this tablet. 16 gigs on board and an sd card slot. I store my maps there.
The things that impress me most...
Gps locks almost immediately. Vast improvement over nexus 7. Gps frequently has 20 satellites locked with an error of only 10 feet. I put two hours of cross country time on it this weekend and still had 80% battery after two hours of full screen on tracking.
