Save me a trip to the airport and give me a head start planning some tests: Garmin makes it clear that the G5 is capable of logging data to a microSD card, but I can't seem to find details on *what* is logged. Can anyone tell me, or better yet point me to documentation that includes things like parameters, units, and formats (like precision and scaling, not just '.csv')? Dynon includes this in their documentation and I've gotten spoiled.

Nauga,

Be sure data logging is enabled and the newest firmware is installed.

Changes made from version 7.30 to 8.00:
  • Added additional data to SD card flight data logging

Here’s a sample of a G5 log analyzed in FlySto.net

It also depends what version you’re running and if you have gad13 gad29 etc

How does one enable data logging on G5? Is it done flight by flight or does it happen automatically?

MicroSD cards up to 32GB are compatible

  1. Insert a microSD card with the card facing down into the G5 front microSD card slot
  2. Power on
  3. Fly
  4. Power off
  5. Remove SD card
  6. Upload the logfiles to FlySto
Some older G5 software/firmware versions have only limited data logging functionality. Please verify that your G5 is updated to the latest software.
Some installers disable G5 data logging by default. Please verify data logging is enabled for your G5 by consulting with approved and/or certified personnel and/or maintenance organizations to power on the G5 in configuration mode by holding down the rotary knob and navigating to “Device Information” - “Diagnostics” and selecting “Data Card Log” to enabled.

Thank you!
I am trying to figure out some AP issues. Shop said to get SD card but they did not know how to do it yet.
