G5 and GNC355 Manuals

Hi guys,
I am having some confusion between my mechanic and my CFI. I have on telling me that the G5 and GNC355 manuals for my aircraft have to be in the plane (per STC) and I have another saying that I dont. We have a GDL 82 in the aircraft and I know it says that it must be in the aircraft, I was wondering if it was the same for the G5's and GNC355.

Have you read the AFMS? The G5 says this:

Only the Approved Flight Manual Supplement must be on board the plane to fly. The user manual is not approved, thus not required.
