All I know about altitude reporting for G1000 equipped aircraft is that, the ADC is connected with pitot-static instrument and translates into digital codes which is then transmitted via transponder to ATC facility. The ATC facility receives and then converts into indicated using current altimeter setting.

I am not sure if I am correct at all, whether or not ADC is reporting pressure altitude only.

Please leave ideas and comments !

John,

You are correct that it is reporting pressure altitude which is then converted by the software at the ATC facility. If the plane is equipped with ADS-B Out then it is also reporting GPS position which includes true altitude
