For those interested in playing here's what I've got in mind.

No Limit Texas Hold 'Em
  • Limited to first 20 players (I only have 1000 chips)
  • Play continues until the last player has all the chips
  • Knockout bonus: Any player who knocks out another player will get a % of their entry fee back for each player they eliminate. Determined by entry fee amount.
  • Payouts will based on number of players
  • Blinds will start at $5/$10 in chips. (Chip money does not equal real money amounts)
  • Blinds will (more or less double) every 15 minutes until there is one table remaining, at which point blinds will double every 10 hands.
In the past I've had 20 player tournaments and they took no more than 2-1/2 hours from start to finish - so don't expect it to last all night.
Assuming a $20 entry fee, and 20 players the payout would look like:

Total Pool $400
Places
  1. $150
  2. $75
  3. $50
  4. $30
Knockout money pool $95
$5 per person eliminated. (winner obviously isn't eliminated)

Uh, in english, please?
  1. How much per head to enter?
  2. Will there be any newbie training?
  3. Does a newbie stand a chance?
Sounds like fun...

1. TBD
2. I will be more than happy to show how the game is played.
3. The first tournament I ever hosted, the guy who took second place (or maybe he won) had just learned the game that afternoon.

I am in, if it is on saturday night!

If someone would be willing to teach me this game as we play, I will probably show up.

The key word is "Texas". That smile on the dealers face belies the wolf within.... ;) :p :D

Ed:

We gotta keep an eye on you; sounds like you have a good plan! It also sems as though you have practice at setting these things up.

Scott

Setting them up sure. Cashing in, not so much. I've finished 1 place out of the money for every one I've hosted.

On second thought, maybe I'll just shake Ed down for $20.00 again.

Hey Ed, count two of us from Saturday night.
Bill, I'm sure we can teach you what to do as the cards are dealt, just play your cards face up :D

I was just thinking and, i am pretty sure i have a chip set somewhere, i don't know if they are the same as the others, but i might as well bring them down.

Best,
