LED bulbs are 10% off at Lowe's until Jan 6th. Also, if you qualify for the military 10% discount, you get that off to for a total of 20% off. Just bought one today and got both discounts.

Beware of anything bearing the Lowe's Utilitech brand name. What a piece of unmitigated crap. I've had a number of problems with everything bearing this name from light bulbs to batteries. While the LED bulbs are holding up, the CF's bearing that name have had a number die an early death. My entire brick of alkaline AA's and 9V's had probably 50% dead batteries out of the box. There's no excuse for this nonsense. Yeah, the local store managers always make good on the complaints but I'm tired of the unreliability.

Non-military people can get 5% with their Lowe's card. If you go to Home Depot and tell them you have a Lowe's card, they'll offer the 5% discount on most stuff.

The Wal-Mart LED bulbs ("Great Value" brand) are very cheap, and all the one's I've bought have all held up so far. No failures at all. YMMV.

Good to know... I had mixed results a few years ago, but recently bought some Phillips LED bulbs that have been outstanding.

I'll buy a few more tomorrow.

I bought 14 candelabra base 2 watt bulbs directly from China - 6 of them were dimmable. $58. Shipped from China. The things work great. These are for the outside fixtures . . .

I bought 24 Edison base [US Domestic base] 10w [60watt equiv - lumens closer to 68w] non-dimmable bulbs for $135, also from China - the things are working just fine in the cans in the kitchen - not a single problem. Now I have jinxed myself - but even if they fail they've paid for themselves already . . . even from the CFL crap they replaced. . . .

CFLs imho last maybe 2-3 years. . . thats from experience with them since 1996. . .
