Well the Frankenkota is having it's autopilot innards examined (I was going to say autopilot bits but the darn thing is analogue, not digital).

Flight out was uneventful other than a divert around Argonia, KS for rocket launch. Guess KS is some sort of high powered rocket Mecca once a month.

Southwest had trouble getting me back to DEN. They said it was too windy. I managed to restrain myself by not saying that aircraft are designed for wind. Anyway, nothing worse than one or too possible moderate jolts on the flight. Normal for a flight into DEN.

Now it's wait and see what the gurus in TUL say. I'm sure it'll be something like "give us all your money and we'll let you have your 'plane back"...

I would say "SCORE!!!!! Here's my 'dollar two ninety-eight remaining in my bank account. Fuel her up, I'm comin' home!" :)

I was a little concerned when I had to complete a new client application which included a certified appraisal on my house along with a mortgage statement. :yikes:

(okay, maybe I'm joking but they aren't cheap, they do really good work, but they aren't cheap. Did I say they aren't cheap?)

I flew out of DCA on Friday on an AA 737 that was completely full. So heavy that the crew had to ask ATC to allow them to use north runway (1) instead of Runway 19 that was in use. Apparently we were too heavy to meet ops margins with south departure (wind out of the north by 2-3 knots). Took about 20 minutes, but ATC arranged a break in traffic to allow the north departure.

Had approx 150-160 knot headwinds on the way down to DFW at 28,000. The flight before ours (an MD80) had to make a fuel stop at BNA. And bumpy.

Friday was not a good day for flying that route.

yea i need to get out to Argonia one of these days to watch the rocket launch

First report in from the gurus: electric manual trim is fixed, working on the tracking and intercept functions today. SVT will be installed with alerting functions routed through the audio panel. They had an option to just run it through the headphone jack which would be cheaper. I thought that using the audio panel would be the best in the long run and a cleaner installation.

The current word is the aircraft is mostly fixed. They will probably test fly on Monday. Repairs were completed Tuesday but the SVT upgrade took a little extra time because of the way I wanted the terrain alerts tied into the audio panel.

Are your "terrain" alerts in a male voice or female voice? Does it say "Terrain! Terrain! Pull up!" ???

Dunno. I really would rather never hear it (while in flight).

Joke: Hey, center, can ya give us a vector into some terrain. We'd like to test the TWS.

Center: (laughing) Unable

I have heard that our voices are selectable. The voice that came from the factory was male and we haven't changed it.

I am 99% sure in the CJ-4 it can be changed from "bitchin betty" to "blabbering bob" pretty easy.

I want terrain warnings in James Earl Jones' voice. Anyone have that as an option? :)

Wait, yours is a guy? That's cool, I heard a woman in a 172 recently and I kept commenting how "bitchy" she was, always warning us about stuff.

Oops... I posted something naughty in this thread and had it pulled...

Re-posting without the picture...

Morgan Freeman. :)

It is too late..... I saw that 4 letter word and now I am mentally scarred for life... Please send 6.32 million to pay for my therapy..;):hairraise::rofl::rofl:

Somewhat similar ... another club member asked "does the 430W alert on towers?"
me: "let's go find out"
off we go north of Brighton ... test results show that the 430W does in fact alert on towers ... once you get low enough and close enough.

I wonder if the altering threshold is adjustable? It was too low and too close for my comfort.

Brought the 'kota back today. As expected, the bill was rather eye-watering. All the autopilot items seem to be fixed. Only a couple things left undone on re-assembly. The voice alert is bitchin' betty and she finds all sorts of things to squawk about, not just terrain. Like most women, she's easy to turn off. Unlike most women, she's just as easy to turn back on. :D

ROFL. I'd offer to Safety Pilot this weekend but I caught another frakkin' cold. Now have to see how long it lasts. Ughhhh!

Two colds in one season? That's against the rules. Get to feeling better.

Forgot to mention this tidbit 'bout TUL. Road sign at the commercial terminal passenger pick-up point sez: Speed Hump. I kid you not. I looked around and did not see any speed humping activity. I did not inquire within about the likelyhood of some speed hump before my ride picked me up.

Haha. Jokes about singing the Speed Racer theme song come to mind...

101.7F on the ear thermometer this morning. And I took that after I thought the fever had broke and I was "feeling better". I don't want to know how high it got on Saturday if that's where it was this morning.

The Dain Bramage can't be that bad, right? :(

As far as the "twice in one season" I wholeheartedly agree. Very abnormal for me. The virii are getting sneakier.

Chicken soup, Netflix, and for most of Saturday just rolling over looking at the clock, playing with the iPad for a few minutes and passing out again were the highlights of the weekend so far.

I did wander out to Qdoba today for a burrito to go. Appetite's back. Two cans of chicken soup and a bowl of Total cereal rounded out the exciting cuisine at Casa de DenverPilot this weekend prior to today's lovely burrito. Had to get out of the house.

Mrs was out of town Friday night and I'd warned her I was a sickie so when she got home last night at 21:30 she went and hid in the guest bedroom, smart nurse that she is.
