Hello,
I have a Question about becoming a pilot from scratch. I was in the Marines for 5 years and got out with an Honorable. interested in the Airline Career Training (ACT) program (http://iflycoast.com/airline-career-training-program) that allows me to use my Gi-Bill to pay for flight school and optain a degree. My main concern is the fact that during my time in, I got a "6105" or "page 11" for Distribution (huge misunderstanding). Is this going to disqualify me or hurt me in anyway that would keep me from becoming a Commercial Pilot and later ATP? Any information would be helpful.

Thank you.

We all need counseling. I see no problem - Go for it!

Maybe I'm thinking of something else, but isn't this just a counseling statement? How would anyone have any record of your 6105 anymore? They are disposed of at the unit level.

That's a question for an attorney familiar with both FAA and TSA regulations and military law.

I don't know what exactly that is, but if there's no record, maybe it didn't happen?

I believe it deals with selling or distribution of fire arms without a license. I knew a guy in the Marines who was selling automatic weapons out of the trunk of his car. Wasn't long before the MPs got him.

There is always a record. A friend of mine was a nurse in the military. Had a bit too much to drink. Was unfit for duty on his next shift. Got an article 15 and subsequently separated from the reserves.

He did not report it to the state nursing board and it placed him in a world of professional hurt when they nailed him for nondisclosure.

Things that work in your favor are time and continued good behavior. But don't lie. And don't dream up ways to rationalize nondisclosure. If you are required to disclose, and you don't, It will be viewed as deceptiveness..

Depends exactly what the counseling was for, I'm not familiar with the military code so I'm not sure what you were distributing. Drugs buys you 10 years on the bench from a federal level transport license typically, nuclear weapons would probably get you 3 years hold.

It might be easy, it might be a *****, but the problems will surface on your Medical application first. Contacting Dr Bruce Chien at aeromedicaldoc.com would be a wise starting point as he knows the FAA system well and was in the military system.
