A friend who worked for us for a while sends me stuff from time to time. He's a retiered Army Major and a retired NTSB investigator. He sent me the Normandy then and now Powerpoint, and the video of the little Belgian boy saluted by the Canadians. We hardly see each other anymore as he lives in Omaha, so only when I get up to our office there do we meet. He seems like a crusty old so-and-so, but when he sends me those, as well as this one linked below, I know we are lucky to call each other friend.
We have quite a few people at our church and in our neighborhood who are having a tough time right now. Not just because of the economy, but because of illness, deaths and marital strife. It may seem that there's not too much to be thankful for, but there really is. I caught myself complaining today about how long it has been since my plane went in for annual. Wow, what a trivial problem compared to those mentioned above.
So, to those here, I say, thanks for all the fun and informative posts, for the pleasure of having a "hangar" where I can hang out, because my plane is tied down outside and my wife keeps me hopping on the weekends so much I couldn't go hang out in a hangar if I had one. I'll never get to 25,000 plus posts, but I'll certainly try to read most of them.
Remember, be thankful, now, more than ever.
