Congratulations, Drs. Dave and Janet! Your town is highlighted page 50 of the July/August Pilot Getaways as one of the featured "Weekend Getaways" in the issue.

After discussing how to get there (flying in) and local history, places to go and things to see are highlighted:

The Chihuahuan Desert Nature Center and Botanical Gardens
The Overland Trail Museum
The Fort Davis Historic Site
Davis Mountains State Park
75-mile Scenic Loop on Hwys 118, 166, and 17, including a stop at the McDonald Observatory
Lajitas Stables horseback riding
H.E. Sprould Ranch's guided adventures

Places to stay:

Veranda Historic Inn
Harvard Hotel & Lodge
H.E. Sproul Ranch
Hotel Limpia
Indian Lodge

There's more, but that's a snippet. Any of these real standouts or losers?

ah troy, just go to Marfa. That way you can get up in a Glider!

Go stay a couple of nights at Cibolo Creek Ranch

www.cibolocreekranch.com

Nicer than the law allows. The runway is paved (do not believe the falsehoods on Airnav about TS15).

I've got an October trip planned for Cibolo Creek Ranch! Can't wait!

If anyone comes be sure to call me up - lunch on me - and I will give more details on some of those establishments...
Looking forward to the article, that mag makes me yearn to travel.

The article says they covered Marfa, specifically, in a late 2006 issue... that was before I started subscribing...

I really enjoy the Ft Davis area. Makes a great 3 day getaway.
