Hey Judd, I know you're always reading about aircraft system, avionics and the like, for curiosity and learning sake.
Check out this add-on plane fos FS2004. It's an Antonov-24, pure russian intruments. Equipment includes 2 gyros, one that auto-aligns magnetically, and other that alligns to the meridian, to perform orthodrome and loxodrome navigation (yeah I didn't know what that was until now), silumation of the RSBN-2 system (russian RNAV without having to following radials), the NAS-1 system, that uses gyroscope, doppler radar and other stuff that automatically follows a course and can compensate for wind drift, and a whole bunch of other stuff. For me it is kind of mind-boggling... It's taken me hours to just learn how to fire it up, take off and set a heading on the Autopilot.... the fact that all panel labes are in russian don't help...
Here you can view the 80 page manual:
http://samdimdesign.free.fr/HTML/doc24.html
You can download the plane here:

The website also has other old soviet airliners, but I can only handle one at a time.
If you like learning about systems, I think this will float your boat...
