For guitar lovers NA

Always loved Leo and his smokin' guitar. Thanks for posting.

Not to have much thread drift, but this has been one of my favorite guitarists, the late, great Michael Hedges playing his harp guitar. Amazing to watch.

Thanks for the link; that's a neat video.

The harp guitar is amazing. A friend of ours, John Doan of Salem, Oregon, is one of the greats on this instrument. We're having a house concert at our home in Vancouver WA next Friday evening (7-20-07). John will be playing the harp guitar, along with Randy Sparks, founder, director, songwriter and lead singer of The New Christy Minstrels.

Any POA'ers in the Northwest who'd like to join us (3 miles east of KVUO, just across the river from KPDX), shoot me a PM for directions.

Did anyone see the fantastic PBS documentary on Les Paul earlier this week? Stunning.

Found this video on youtube. I have been a fan of this man for more than 30 years now. I saw him last this past March, and he still smokes!

This is from a 1974 performance by Leo Kottke of a John Fahey tune called The Last Steam Engine Train.

Wow, that was amazing picking... now I understand Garrison Keillor's skit, where he mentions Leo. I thought he just picking a name out of the blue (no pun intended).

Say, how come Leo didn't trim his strings? Look at the top of his guitar. Is there a technical reason he left them that way?

Kottke's always been great! Thanks.
He could probably play Al Demeola's "Mediteranean Sunset".

The only thing I can think of is that he plays with such an aggressive style...at least he used to until tendonitis cause be the aggressiveness of his style nearly ended his career...that he has to change strings quite often. An example of his style can be seen in this video. It's a split screen video, with good close up shots of his playing.
