For First Class Medical, Tell me about the FAA's version of the EKG/ECG

I am considering a First Class medical. I have had many years of third class medicals, so I am familiar with the "general" certification process. But this will be my first First Class.

I know an ECG or EKG is required. Can someone describe how this test is done (number of leads, length of tracing, what is being looked for, other details)?

The various threads pointing out "own your medical" and "know everything you should know before sending it to the FAA" have me thinking of talking to my primary doctor and having one done "privately" with him. This way I know what my ticker is doing before going to the AME.

12 leads.
I'd ask the AME to do your EKG before opening your application file, so that you can BOTH back off if necessary.
