FOR MAINE RESIDENTS
(for whom this picture might make any sense):

My best guess, though wasn't targeting specific subjects:
Definitely Route 4, Auburn; Auto Row section, probably Auburn Mall.
Off to the right, that campus-like area might be Central Maine Community College(or whatever its proper name). Slightly inside the upper left corner is probably the Bates College campus, large building being either part of the campus or perhaps, Saint Mary's Hospital which is within spitting distance from Bates. Oh, the lower right corner shows ROY'S FAMOUS BURGERS, beside the small golf course/driving range. About dead center, that "avenue" of Lake Auburn that kisses the highway is where the scenic "drive-out" is located with its resident hot dog vendor. For NON-MAINE folks, a bit of trivia: Directly across the highway from ROY'S BURGERS is Wallingford Machinery(Sales/Rentals of heavy construction vehicles). The late Otto Wallingford founded and operated Lost Valley Ski Area; small but a good practice area without having to drive two hours to the big resorts. Mr. Wallingford, an engineer, became concerned with inadequate snow conditions on his trails. So he dreamed-up, designed and built a device which would turn piped water into snow. And it worked! The word spread, other ski area owners heard about the concept, arranged to try the newfangled technology, and liked it. In ski worlds everywhere there are snow guns; and Otto became very wealthy via his forward thinking.
