For Andrew Stanley

- - - and I'll be happy to meet you THERE, too. Conte used to be at the land end of the pier in Rockland, at the outer end of which is The Black Pearl. Now when you land at KRKD, if you have use of motor vehicle, turn left from the airport, go to the STOP sign. Turn left and then turn right at the next STOP sign and drive about a mile. Not far beyond the Owls Head hill(entering Rockland) will be John's place, but YOU'LL HAVE TO LOOK FOR IT. It's no PRIMO(in appearance), but a heck of an experience.

We look forward to it! If I can just find an open weekend we will head back up to Grey Heavens for a day or two then into Rockland. I think we would fly into Wicassett and grab a rental car for a few days. Just curious, is there a crew car at Rockland?

September is pretty full for us and I know Grey Havens closes sometime in October. I'll reach out to Dick or Eve...

I'm not sure about a crew car at the Down East Air FBO, or at the terminal; but give Kevin Waters a telephone call. He owns PIA(Penobscot Island Air). Super gentleman! Whenever I'm at KRKD by plane or automobile I always stop in to visit Kevin. One time, CFI and I flew in and Kevin said, "If you want to go into Rockland to eat, take my car." I don't know if it's a Courtesy Car or "just his," but a friendlier guy you won't find at any airport. He and his pilot staff are like own sons to the islanders on Vinalhaven, Matinicus, and Criehaven, PIA being the mail and freight carrier, grocery orders from the mainland, and/or emergency flights. Those island airports are private; Kevin holds the flying "rights" to them. One time he said to me, "Anytime you want to fly out to them, call me; I'll give you permission." Previously noted: "nice guy."
First 2 photos = Vinalhaven; 2nd 2 photos = Matinicus(Camden Hills are way back in the distance.)
