Ga Tech (ACC) beat UGA (SEC). Life is good.
Clemson (ACC) beat S.C.
Now, if FSU (ACC) can beat FLA ( SEC), then all will be well in the world.

How is your College football day going?

Oregon needs to stomp Oregon St and stay in the top 4.

I'd be good with that. I have always liked the "Fighting Ducks", and me and beavers have had a few disagreements in the past regarding some trees at my lake house.

Don't forget that Louisville (ACC) beat Kentucky (SEC).
Looks like ACC is going 4-0 against SEC today.

I need a MSU win over Ole Miss. need the Barners to beat the toothless. FSU losing to Florida would be nice.

If it wasn't for the over sized ego of SEC fans, I would agree with you. I really have to clench my teeth to pull for "Felony State University".

Meh... I don't really care about all that. We're number 4, we're looking like **** against ole miss right now but if somehow we can win. I'll be pulling for everyone in the top 3 to lose.

I needed Georgia to win for political reasons, but it was nice to see tech break the streak, especially how they managed to get the win.

#6 Ohio State beat rival Michigan at the 'Shoe, but it took some doing. Most importantly, we lost our star (backup) quarterback JT Barrett, likely for the season.

Brady Hoke will be shown the door after 4 years at Michigan.

In fact OSU announced Barrett broke his ankle & he's having surgery tomorrow. :(

That plus possibly facing Melvin Gordon with OSU's questionable rush defense is going to make for some unhappy Buckeyes in the next week or two.

It was a good game. Had me on the edge a few times.

Go Buckeyes!

IRON BOWL ! I have no dog in the fight but for some reason I've become an Auburn Fan. Probably happened when I saw the documentary " War Eagle Roll Tide"

Other than that I used to love the Penn State -Notre Dame Game when they were indies but when PSU went Big 10 that went away.

The civil war is also a good game, Oregon v. Oregon State

Locally, I love the "Battle of the Blue" Delaware v. Villanova. But this year they both stink!

The original college rivalry was last weekend. Harvard beat Yale and went 12-0 for the year. Pffft Yale why do they even bother.

The ONLY game that mattered was won by a resilient Bunch of Yellow Jackets. Incredible game with many heart stopping reversals of fortune leading up to an OT win by the White and Gold. Without horrible calls by the the Ref's, Tech wins by 2 TD's without OT.

That was a wicked injury. The Wolverines made a game out of it, at least for a while.

Man, State should have won this game. They played like ****. I would have loved to see what happened in the placement for the #4 playoff slot if State had won handily. They weren't getting much respect in retaining the #4 spot according to the pundits. Unfortunately, they don't have to worry about that any more this year.

Yup, and we certainly did. Nevermind the fact I'm an OSU alum.......4 years were a drop in the pan compared to growing up within walking distance of Autzen I guess (that and my wife is a Duck so we don't need a civil war at home too). Go Ducks

Well, the games are over, and I'd have to say Mississippi State is out of the running, while Oregon, Alabama (which really took over in the second half), and Florida State are still in (pending the conference championships next weekend), although I'd say the Seminoles' performances have been less-than-impressive. So which of the 1-loss teams gets the #4 spot? TCU, which buried Texas? OSU, who should have buried Michigan but didn't (the game having been a lot close than the score shows until Devin Gardner fumbled again in the 4th quarter)? Not Baylor, I think, who faded in the second half and should have beaten the Red Raiders a lot worse than they did if they wanted to be a championship contender. Personally, I'd give it to TCU on the basis of dominating performance as well as noting that OSU just isn't going to be as good without Barrett.

So, my forecast for the playoffs would be Alabama over TCU, Oregon over Florida State, and a whale of a game between the Tide and the Ducks in Arlington on January 10.

Disagree. Baylor beat TCU head to head. IMO that should always be the first tie-breaker, so Baylor before TCU.

One more week for crazy things to happen though.

You're entitled to that opinion on how it should work, but that's not how the direction to the committee reads, which is essentially to pick the 4 best teams on selection day (a significant issue regarding a Barrett-less Ohio State). Also, that game was at Baylor, and it's generally agreed home field advantage is worth at least the 3 point margin in that game. All things considered, TCU seems the better team right now, and their standing above Baylor in the selection committee list the last several weeks suggests the committee agrees with me. Unless Iowa State really surprises TCU next Saturday, I think Baylor's out.

Nebraska -v- Iowa

Since NU moved to the Big 10 the conference planners thought it would be a good rivalry so we play the Friday after Thanksgiving. I think Iowa gets more out of it than we do, but I have to admit beating Iowa this year in a huge comeback when we were down 7-21 was a good victory. Let's just say my Iowa buddies started calibrating just a little too soon. Certainly not unusual for them to crow about Iowa before warranted. It was a great game to watch however, both teams played hard. NU won in overtime. :happydance:

I love college football.

Go Big Red

Without our QB, I can't see how OSU should get the #4 spot, it's just not the same team. I'm afraid our game next weekend in the Big Ten Championship will solve that conundrum nicely for the committee. :dunno:

We scored 2 times after Barrett went down. That's got to count for something.

Fair enough to. I missed the nuance that you were just anticipating what you thought the committee might do.

Thankfully Marshall lost; otherwise I'd be advocating they be included too.

I dunno what Saban said to his QB during halftime, but the young man came out and played the second half like his hair was on fire...I thought he was going to get the hook after the third interception. Not a good first half.

Saban is a smooth operator. You can't help but be impressed with the guy.

Go Navy, beat Army. I think of the A-N game as the start of the bowl season.

You know less than nothing. The OSU/Michigan rivalry is the only one that matters. It is easily the oldest, and has existed longer than many (if not most) of the teams in the NCAA. There is a level of emotion not seen in any other contest. Both teams will do things against each other that they'd not do in any other game. You just don't understand and never will.

That said, the freshman quarterback won't be back for the post season. I doubt his replacement is up to the task, but I would enjoy being surprised. Still, number 4 with one of the youngest teams in college football and during a building year. Go Bucks.

Ga Tech/Georgia (1893)
OSU/Michigan (1935)

OSU/Michigan is a Johnny-come-lately when it comes to lasting rivalries.

Actually according to both UM & Ohio State, the rivalry started just 4 years later than Georgia's in 1897.

Hope you are right. One TD was Elliot's long run and the other was a defensive score, so we didn't really get to see much out of our new starting QB. That's a mighty tall order to have to play the BT championship game as your first start of the season.

Let's hope JT mends quickly and rehabs well, tough break. :nonod:

I have faith in the Buckeyes. I'll take running touchdowns and defensive scores any day if it gets us to beat the mediocre Badgers (don't let the fact I live WI fool you, I'm a born and raised Ohio boy). If we get a strong win in the BT championship with a 3rd string QB, we have to be in the mix for the playoffs, IMO.

As a Georgia fan, Tech deserved to win that one! It was a very exciting game. It was sloppy with too many fumbles and a really bad decision at the end to squib kick with 18 seconds left. But the 52 yard field goal was a shocker to everyone including the kicker!! :D

If Oregon and Bama win they're respective conference championships (hopefully my Ducks can get revenge on Arizona) and FSU squeaks by again it will probably be Bama, Oregon, FSU, and TCU/Baylor regardless of what OSU does against Wisconsin. And as an Oregon fan living within a mile of the shoe I hope Oregon and OSU don't meet in the playoffs (although Oregon would kill OSU:D).

Oregon, you been flying much? I've got my hand held at the office and hear the traffic talking to 118.8. Don't know what Oregonians sound like so I'm not sure I'd recognize you unless you muff up your calls a lot...:D
