First time dealing with anything like this any guidance appreciated

I was run over by a semi, and lucky to only need my left ankle rebuilt.

Mine's a 3rd class medical, and the doc simply wanted to be sure I was mobile. A little walk around the office was sufficient.

I didn't do pain meds past the minimums.

The 1st class is probably a little more detail-oriented, but so long as you're healed and able to board and airplane yourself, you should be good-to-go.
