FlyQ Problem

I wanted to download the chart updates for FlyQ so I have a back up. When I go to the download screen, I get a message "Data cannot be downloaded because you are not connected to the internet." Every other internet application works, just not FlyQ.

I have tried restarting the iPad(s) and restarting FlyQ. It happens across several iPads. When I search for solutions, I only find a self-congratulatory post from Seattle Avionics that they fixed the problem, I think years ago.

Does anyone have any insight?

I had that occur a few times,( was only 'solved' by shutting down the app then restarting iPad) but now am on version 7.1 - it's no longer happening.

I also get this problem. Usually restarting my phone fixes it, but sometimes it takes several attempts

I've seen it too. Sometimes I disconnect/reconnect the wifi and it fixes it, sometimes I have to reboot.

Are you a lifetime subscriber?

Recently I spoke with support about the weather overlay being messed up. He suggested I uninstall and reinstall, which I did, but now I can't get logged in, as it says only current subscribers can log in NOT lifetime members.
They have totally ignored any of the multiple other communications that have been sent.
My guess is that they haven't released the 'legacy' version yet, and may intend to purposefully delay it for a long time. That's speculation on my part, but sure feels that way.
Anyone know where to get the legacy version by chance? I can't find it.

Yes I am. Good to know not to delete the app and try to reinstall. Maybe their way of rolling people off it slowly. Plus internally I imagine that working on and rolling out the legacy app is easy to put on the back burner and get to it someday, or not.

I do wish they would come out with some type of value-add service that could be bolted onto a lifetime subscription at an up charge. I get the economics are not great to provide any lifetime service and I don’t mind paying them for something more, but they need to honor those outstanding lifetime subscriptions for base services. Otherwise I’d probably switch to Garmin Pilot and get full integration with my avionics.

Sorry but there is not a lot of sympathy for the few 'lifetime' subs. You are getting exactly what you paid for.

Also you still get to use the legacy app, with chart updates. I'm failing to see the loss.

(+) The only difference will be that new features, beyond what was in FlyQ EFB 6.9.1, will only be enabled for annual subscribers. To be clear, this means that all users will continue to receive bug fixes and new releases as iOS updates are produced but only annual subscribers will benefit from the new features added in FlyQ+ 7.0 and later

Yes, I understand their final 'solution', but they have failed to respond at all once they found out I was a lifetime subscriber, and I can't find where to get the legacy app to reinstall. So they once again seem to be not standing up to their word, so no, not getting what we paid for.

They are the ones that have ruined the trust, many times. First promising features and functions for several years that never came, then ending the lifetime subs that were already in place, basically telling everyone to go to hell, then after the negative press they settled on their current 'solution', but now no legacy app as promised (that I can find), and total ghosting.

Many of us advertised for them for what a great deal it was to be a lifetime member and got others to join, then they jerked the rug out from under everyone.
Skepticism and distrust is to be expected, along with frustration.

Update: It took 9 days to hear back from them, but they did finally respond, but only told me to log in and check the settings. For some reason he put my password in the email, which was odd. I never asked about any of that. However the login worked this time so not sure what the issue there was.
I asked specifically about the legacy version, but there was no response about that. At least for now as far as I can tell, there is no legacy version. You just get the newest version, but the new features are locked. I'm guessing it will stay that way, and likely the most efficient for them.
Hoping the reinstall fixes the issue with the weather overlay.

Lifetime FlyQ user here. Cannot update the database. Hangs up at “ Verifying (state selected) charts VFR” when it gets to the first state in alphabetical order that you want to update.
The other functionality seems to work though on my version 7.1.0.
Any thoughts, or is this their new subscription required way or the highway?

I've seen similar, and noticed it can take a really long time for the updates to complete. I just left and came back after a while and it had finished.
If you've already waited over an hour, my guess is they would first tell you to reinstall if you contacted support, but it didn't help my issue of the weather overlay being broken up into squares.
Probably worth a try though, doesn't take long (if your login works lol).
Good luck.

most likely the fork to a legacy version is hitting some bumps. since I am going to assume that the number of active lifetime subscription is a low single digit number it's just not a priority on the list of stuff to do.

I know teeth are gonna be gnashed and brows will furrow because 'muh lifetime subscription ' but time to admit that you got a fair value for the price you paid and it's time to either switch or start a new subscription.

it's actually amazing that no one has cried 'lawsuit' yet. good luck with that if you do lol

Follow up:
I actually was able to download charts in my IPhone SE, so I updated to the latest IOS possible on my IPad 6th gen. It still did not work on the IPad which now suggested it could be related to my older IPad.
However, after using FlyQ on a flight yesterday, after getting back home, I decided to try a download again on the IPad. To my surprise, the download had no hiccups.
Miracles never cease.

Garmin Pilot has some really cool new features for approaches. If you buy Garmin databases for your panel you get the Premium upgrade at no cost. Or use ForeFlight.

Garmin Pilot costs $109 and adds in the premium upgrade. Toss FlyQ Lifetime in the garbage. Never ever do biz with that firm again. I actually hope they go bust for how they treated this community. They eroded trust with the license change. Why do any of us think they will live up to their word regarding legacy?

wait till you find out unlimited cell data isn't. nor is unlimited anything.

if you read the paperwork finding a true lifetime anything (of value, that doesn't allow it to be terminated or revoked) just isn't a thing.

Also you know televangelists are fraudsters also? Just saying
