FlyQ InSight Augmented Reality

Remember these guys?

Lots of buzz generated at AirVenture three years ago, but the product never made it into wide release.

Struggling to see when I would use this.

I will admin - pretty cool. Add in with a HUD?

I don't get it. Is it a heads up display where you see nav markings while looking out the windscreen? Or is there a camera on the windscreen that produces a video stream that is merged onto the dispay of a tablet?

It uses the camera on the tablet. So you are holding up the tablet and looking at the display. Not sure how useful it would be with that configuration but pretty cool nonetheless.

I had a chance to try this out on a flight yesterday. I think this is more of a novelty than anything. It is a separate app and not part of the FlyQ EFB. So if you want to use the EFB, you will need to launch Insight on a separate device. Trying to use one device is enough for me.
