Here's another video, this time a complete circuit of the traffic pattern at Pearson. It's actually a composite of four successive flights to make use of the different camera angles.

Maybe I should have edited in commercial breaks at dramatic moments? ("Omigosh! The airplane is flying sideways!! With flaps down!!! )

You can just hear the voiceover: "... braving horrible weather ... small planes ... ferocious wildlife ..." (note the annoyed coyote at 6:25 :rolleyes2: )

That was very cool....I really like the various perspectives. That appears to be a sweet aircraft.! Thanks for sharing!

it would be great to fly with some nice scenery. i have fields as far as the eye can see. nice one!

Sheez - taxiing wild vancouver is more like it :)

Kidding - neat video.

Taxiing a conventional gear aircraft is half the challenge

CMOS still bugs me with the image distortions, but what's annoying is I now know that it's filterable as I've had it demonstrated on other CMOS devices.

Yes, I kept wondering why he wasn't lined up... Ha, got me. Nice vid

I got a tingling sensation going all the way up one of my legs. Great video!!:D

BTW never got the same felling when Obama was elected.

That looks like it should be a left pattern runway, over the highway and such, instead it's over those houses. Why is that?

Because of this note in the AFD :

WHEN OPERG OVER THE RY CNTRLN OR RY CNTRLN EXTDD - MAINTAIN AT OR BLO 700 FT MSL DUE TO TFC & WAKE TURBULENCE FROM OVERFLYING ACFT TO/FROM PORTLAND INTERNATIONAL ARPT (PDX) RY 10L/28R. PDX RY 10L/28R EXTDD CNTRLN CROSSES PEARSON RY 08 THLD.

In the aft-view shots after takeoff you can see Portland International Airport in the distance. KVUO is on the extended centerline of KPDX rwy 28R/10L 3 miles away, and the near shore of the Columbia River is the boundary of Portland's Class C surface area. As it is KVUO is in a cut-out of the Class C area, with Class C shelf beginning at 1100' MSL. Our traffic pattern is 1,025' MSL, so it's a little snug.

So a south pattern would put you in the Class C, and ATC would be very unhappy.

I don't have an AFD for that area, nor a chart, so thanks. From the video, left pattern just looks logical. Also, I could have just checked it on the net, but asking was easier.

By the way, thanks for the video, I enjoyed it, no stupid music, just the airplane, the way it aught to be.

That sport cub could probably fly over they highway and still make a left pattern to 26 with no problems.

I noticed the displaced threshold for 26, most likely for the business park before the airport. I'm surprised they don't make those landing on the grass honor the displaced threshold.

The runway and the riverbank aren't parallel. On departure from 26 we have to make a slight right turn at I-5 to avoid flying over the river and into the Class C.

There's also a change in elevation. That north-south walking path just before the runway is about ten feet higher than the runway.

When using the grass strip I always touch down slghtly beyond the threshold stripe. But by the looks of the tire marks in the grass, not everybody does so.

Very nice. My FBO has a Cub that I NEED to get some time in.

Boy, they really had to displace that threshold for the commercial buildings they put in front of the airport. Looks like a really neat, little airport though.

You didn't hang around long enough that day
