Flying to Alaska this year?

I was flying down the Taku River in the summer low level looking for moose and flew through a swarm of bugs. Took me over and hour after landing to clean the plane. Windshield was 50 percent covered. Only time that happened. Like I said I was flying low 200 ft AGL or so.

That picture reminds me of motorcycle and three wheeler trips back to Beaver Creek near Eielson. Would use large mounts of Muskol (DEET) and that would keep them at bay. It would keep them from landing on my face but the swarm would be buzzing around about 4" from my face. That was one of my least favorite things about AK, but usually short lived. Anytime it was -40 and I thought of complaining I would just think to myself, no bugs!!!!!

Sounds like Texas in the summer. Just driving from Colorado to Dallas a few years ago, when I stopped for lunch or dinner I also had to find a car wash to get those stupid little black bugs off the car & windows.

And I've never understood why the speed limit on the interstates is only 70 in Texas.

You will never see Mosquitoes over 200' AGL.

When you get them in your aircraft, after taking off they will all land on the floor, where you can stomp them properly.

A friend flys for denali air, mountain flight seeing, he tells his pax never squash a bug on my windows, the last thing I need to see when looking out the window, when Im' tired is a black speck with wings

They say they can eradicate mosquitos with a genetically engineered mosquito that produces sterile offspring.
