Flying car: No extra afterburner needed

I Remember That Mike and YES it was real. There was also a Lotus Elise that was at Osh the other year, along with the original Flying Car.

An attempt to bring back the Skymaster?

You have wisdom, young Jedi.

If it really flew and crashed there would have to be an NTSB report. Somebody want to try searching with aircraft type as "Ford Pinto?"

My vote is that all mentions of it flying are wishful thinking. The clue is "The struts were attached with sheet metal screws." I say it was strictly for ground use in gathering crowds.

I once saw a "Space Shuttle" that had beer kegs as engines. That one didn't fly either.

If they ever had a flight test there would have been TV and movie footage. It wouldn't have been done in secret.

Heck, it didn't even need to fly to crash in a fireball :hairraise:

The Lotus was a Monster Garage project and only flew in ground effect down the runway.

As OSH a couple years ago a Mooney mod guy flew up a Mooney, removed the prop and attached a couple of small painted trash cans to the side. A sign pointed out the jet powered Mooney.

Bill's Mooney comes from the same guy. Hey Bill, how many engines are you getting?

:)
