A little more than a month ago, my instructor (I'm going for my IFR) was all booked up for the weekend, but a plane was available and I reserved it for a 3 hour slot. I didn't know where to go since (so I thought) there were no events in the area. In the end, I decided to go for lunch to 58M, Cecil County. A couple of days later, looking at the PilotCast website, I found out there was a fly-in on that very same day at KLNS (Lancaster), which is about 15nm from where I fly out of. I wished I had known about it, but even more, I wished there was a place to find out about it on the web - a site that would list all the events in one place. Since I could not find a site that was comprehensive - some sites list some events, other sites list other events, but no site lists them all - I decided to attempt to make a site that would list all the events and offer it to the flying community, in hopes that it might become the place to go to find out where the local fly-ins are this weekend. You can see it at http://www.FlyInCalendar.com ? The site just launched, and it may still have a few bugs I have not managed to catch yet ? so please let me know if you run across any. Also, any feedback will be appreciated ? and, it would be great if you would consider listing your event on http://www.FlyInCalendar.com

While I think this is spam....I gotta say, that is one very cool idea, and one I entertained doing a while back when I had initiative. Good idea!

Does seem to be requiring a fee or signup stuff. Looks pretty tame to me. I say let it stay :)

And I second the great idea!

In MI we already have a site, provided by MDOT. It would be nice if all States did that.

Thanks. - The site does not require sign-up, or a fee. It never will require a fee. It may ask you to sign-up in the future, but only if you wish to receive email updates/alerts when new events are posted or when events are coming up in your state or withn a certain distance from the airport you fly out of.

I am kind of new to this site - Did not mean to spam anyone, but wanted to put the site out there and thought it was related to the discussions in the "Cool Places to Fly" - I will put the link into the links database as well.

Now someone who is more ambitious than me needs to set up some fly-ins in New Mexico, besides the one at 5T6.

I am still adding events as I find them. The plan is to try to have as many listed as possible - If you know of any, please let me know or add them directly on the site.

The MI department of transportation avaiation calender lists most events going on in the state of MI, you may want to go look them up.

Actually spam is the wrong word.

It's just an ad - and like I said, its aviation related. :)

I like it - looks nice and appears to be functional. Clicking from state to state appears to have kind of a hiccup in releasing the previously selected state - appears to behave like a shift-click at times.

Thanks - The idea was that someone would click on all the states that they want to see the events in instead of switching between the states - For example, if you fly out of central PA, you would be interested in the events not only in PA, but also NJ, NY, MD, etc. So, by clicking on all those states you see all the events in all of them instead of having to click on every state you want to see the events separately. Clicking on the "selected" state again deselects it.

Thanks Missa - I am aware there are some repeats. Right now I am trying to put in all the events I can find, so repeats happen - I try to remove them as soon I spot them.

Figured... I let you know 'cause multiple eyes are better then two when trying to spot things. It's the greenville breakfast and the 99's airtour that starts in TC both at the bottem of the MI list.
