Fly and bike

Not listed is Copperhill Airport, 1A3, in eastern NC. There’s a whole system of offroad bike trails nearby:

We keep our old Honda Element parked there as a courtesy car. Rear seats fold up and it should handle a couple bikes. Only caveat is it’s a 5 speed, but hopefully most frequenting those site are proficient with a manual transmission.

Any of them suitable for a gravel bike on 44mm smoothies? Looks like a great riding area. As for 5 speed, our ‘22 Wrangler is a 6-speed manual, we had to special order it, all dealers stock are automatics.

More spots are missed than are captured for Washington State. The Olympic Discovery bike trail runs by Sequim Airport (W28) and is ideal for gravel, or bigger tire road bikes. For mountain biking, you can't beat the trails surrounding Ranger Creek Airport (21 W) along the White River just below Mount Rainier.

Ranger Creek opens for the season today. Every summer I fly out there to hike and camp once or twice. Beware of the winds and DAs can get to 5,000'+ with summer temps.

If you fly up to Chelan S10, Echo Ridge has great mountain biking in the summer.
