Hi everybody. I am moving to the Marion Ar. area next month and was wondering if any one had suggestions for a flight school/rental. I have my PPL but have not flown for over 2 yrs. due to life's circumstances taking priority over flying. Marion is just west of Memphis Tn.

Thanks.

Your best bet is probably Olive Branch KOLV

There's active EAA and IAC chapters in the area, too. Should be able to network with some independent CFIs through them.

You have Downtown Aviation at General Dewitt Spain airport in Memphis. It's located right on the MS River but they are currently operating at the Olive Branch Airport(OLV) in MS because of flooding a while back at General Dewitt Spain. I am not sure when they will be moving back downtown but when they do, it will be a short hop across the bridge for you.

I agree with downtown aviation. Morris Ray is the guy to get in contact with. He also does some acrobatics I do believe!!

Downtown Aviation is your best bet. West Memphis, just south of Marion, has a great airport but nobody there that I know of (I'm based there) has rentals.

Yup, I live in Montana and rent from Downtown Aviation when I'm in Memphis, cool airport just north of downtown and right on the river and the CFIs there seem good too, (I've flown with 2 of em!). Last time I was there was just before the flood... They haven't moved back yet?

Downtown aviation now keeps a 152 & a 172 at M01. The rest of the airplanes are still in KOLV. Instructors fly out of both locations.

There is still quite a but of work left to do on hangars and buildings at M01.

There is a phone number at -> http://www.downtownaviation.com

Next time I go, I gotta get some dual in that Stearman, seems to be priced right too. Last time I was there they seemed to be having some fun in the Decathalon too.
