I believe ANY prep guide ground instruction is at the discretion of the CFI conducting the review.

Pre-takeoff checklist
My view: the best prep is to talk to your CFI. I completely tailor the BFRs I give to where the pilot is at. A guy who hasn't flown in years will get a good thorough multi-ride session. A guy who flies the rental fleet consistently may get a new airplane checkout, an intro to the nearby Class B, or something slightly outside his bubble.
