First snow of 2012

It was a major issue in the election for mayor of Denver and the incumbant lost his job over it.

Yup, Bill McNichols was ousted by a snowstorm for Fred Pena, and Fred Pena's "brilliant" plan to pack down snow with trash trucks in a later snowstorm, would have been his end, if he hadn't been appointed DOT head.

I think I heard that Squaw Valley, Tahoe, opened today.

Arapahoe Basin has been open for a couple already. ;)

Someone else also opened, I forget who.

It's early yet... Not good snow. Mostly man-made at this point.

Bring rock-skis. ;)

Little California was taken over by big california years ago, they just never got around to changing the license plates or state flag because they were too busy jacking prices up. Brilliant people though...Scrape the high friction snow off the ice below it since friction is bad. Then put salt and sand IN the intersections, not before them because sliding into redlight runners is safer than stopping prior to impact.

'Fraid I'm not following your logic.

Road salt is not used in California. Just like it isn't in Colorado. And yes, there is regular snow in some parts of the state. Like in Colorado, flatlanders have some difficulty understanding mountain conditions.

They're using a lot of MgCl in Colorado these days. Not traditional road salt but it certainly is a salt and it does make a mess of the roads. Do not follow the MgCl truck unless you have really good tires!
