First Night Flight Tonight. Any Advice?

Well, obviously it will look a lot different. Firstly, make sure you're familiar with how to operate the lights in the cockpit. Secondly, make sure you have at least one large LED flashlight with both white and colored light capabilities. Personally I like to use red light at night because it gives you light without putting a damper on your night vision. Also make sure you have a backup small pocket-LED in case you have a problem with your main flashlight. And of course, bring backup batteries.

Once you're in the air it will look a lot different, it will be harder to find airports (especially if they're right next to a city and surrounded by lights). When you're on approach, use the glide path lights (PAPII lights) to help you stay on the glideslope, these are especially helpful at night because it is harder to judge your approach path. Be aware that you will want to flare earlier than you should, resulting in a very hard landing. What I do to prevent this is try to look even further down the runway than you usually would during the daytime. Most of all, have fun!
