Last Saturday of September has traditionally been the Mather Grass Strip Chili Fly In. This event continues to grow and decision was made this year to move the event to a near by paved airport in Sandusky, Ohio (SKY). You have to love that identifier.

The free lunch of Chili, hot dogs, roast corn, and deserts brings out a crowd including yours truely. Nothing like a free hot dog for $100 worth of gas. Actually it's a chance to see everyone from the area one more time, before the cold weather drops in, to talk about the year, where we've gone and what we've seen. Proud owners show off their latest airplanes and familiar classics all make appearances throughout the day.

Great day, great weather, great flying, great friends, and great chili.

Wait. There's a Grumman Cheetah there. Everyone knows they can't do grass. :D

That's probably the real reason they moved to "a nearby paved airport"...

Yeah, and I heard they had to get the Cheetah out on a flatbed! :D

It seems like there's a Cessna 195 at every fly in. I gotta get me one of those.:)

Gotta get this one on the list for next year. Thanks for letting us know.
We went to the 99's Chili Fly-In for Breast Cancer at Coshocton last week end. That was great. Some nice planes, lots of good chili, rolls and cider.
We love good chili fly-ins, better than soggy pancakes! (IMHO)
