Finally, I officially own my plane.

I bought a 1948 Piper PA-17.
No electrical system, yank it to crank it, short coupled so it wants to swap ends even when it's parked.
It's got 85 raging horses, and 12 gallons usable so it's good for about 2.5 hours at 90 mph (2200 rpm). Climb prop, so it gets off the ground in a hurry. The cruise prop only gives me an additional 8 mph.
Side by side seating and cabin HEAT that actually works. A neat little grasshopper, with Federal skis for the winter.
If I need to go farther, faster, I'll use the Cherokee.
