Is there a place I can look up felony records? I assume, since felonies are federal charges, that I can't just look them up at the local court level, right?

There are plenty of felonies at the state level. MD has a statewide judiciary case search, other states require you to know the court that the charges were filed in before you can check.

Aha - I thought a felony was automatically a federal charge. That makes sense, as I'm sure its at the state level.

I appreciate the help!

I believe the inverse is true: There are very few federal misdemeanors (outside of the indian reservations). The US attormeys don't go around and prosecute simple assaults.

Of course not. They're too busy raiding and prosecuting state-licensed medical marijuana dispensaries.

I would agree. There are however ironically quite a few Federal infractions, mostly pertaining to traffic laws on Federal land including National parks.

There isn't an actual Federal vehicle code, the standards default to local State standards, or the standards are adopted as a policy by the controlling agency for the Federal facility. But there is a Federal traffic court. Well, not so much a court but more of a Federal traffic fine payment agency.
