FD CTSW W/O Ventral Fin?

1. Has anyone flown a Flight Design CTSW without the ventral fin attached? How did it fly?
2. Does anyone know for certain why Flight Design added the ventral fin? There are several reasons to add a ventral fin - I'm looking for someone who knows for certain why FD added theirs.

I don't understand what you mean. The part below of the stabilizer wasn't added on CT-SW. The original CT and CT-2000 all have the same tail as the CT-SW and CT-LS.

I guess I should have said, "added it to the tail boom". I didn't mean to imply that it was an afterthought. Thanks for clarifying.
