Wondering about pulling G's and false teeth. I know that the body is put under extra stress but can't the same be said for all items in the aircraft including body parts? Makes sense that if you're pulling 3+ that your teeth are doing the same right?

A bit trivial but I ask because I just got a broken tooth repaired with a crown and it's only a temp. Wondering about what happens if I decided to go out in an Extra and pull several G's. Won't my "tooth" go flying? What if an acro pilot that's older and has dentures does the same. Would his dentures pop out?

I've heard hangar talk about folks going out for some aerobatics and breaking phones and popping chip bags but I haven't pulled more than three so no clue.

This could possibly rectified with a mouth piece, much like boxers where. Another question could involve contact lenses and their tolerance to pulling G's ;)

I also have those...I'll take the glasses on my next trip around the box.

Your tooth isn't that heavy. It undergoes much high forces when you eat. Don't worry about it.

I think a mouthpiece and a helmet (in case the mouthpiece ejects and becomes a loose hazard, while experiencing negative G's).

For the last ten years, I have been replacing all my teeth with implants as I can afford it. I have five more to go and I'm done. Implants are downright tough teeth, but puling Gs has never been an issue in my Warrior.

What I have noticed is that every now and then, when I'm above 8,000', I will temporarily get a super sharp pain toward the upper front part of my mouth. By the time I'm done with my litany of colorful adjectives, the pain is gone.

It never comes on slowly, it just zaps ya like a Tazer, when you least expect it.

Very short duration, very painful. It only happens that one time during a flight, never more than that.

That sounds like a pressure issue.

How do you like the implants?

Nothing beats your own teeth, however, implants come in a very close second. Dentures just plain suck. You can't taste your food worth a darn.

Not having any teeth sucks even more. There are a lot of things you can not eat, people look at you like your a low life. You become self conscious about even opening your mouth when others are around.

Implants feel solid as a rock, they feel strong and very tough. That slight bit of give you have with your own teeth is no longer there. I have one small area in the roof of my mouth, again toward the front, where I have no feeling at all. My dentist said one of the implant guys I went to must have severed a nerve, or something like that, I can't remember.

I did most all of them as trade deals, but I still have to come up with the money to buy the materials, so it still is not cheap. Not near as expensive as it would have been.

If you have implants, you still have to brush three times a day, and floss every night. Maintenance is the same as with your real teeth.

If your thinking of having it done, be very careful about who you pick to do the job. Avoid those people on TV who promise a new mouth in one day. You will end up having to pay someone else to do it all over. Implants, if done properly take a long time to heal. Each implant, if done right, takes almost a year.

My upper front teeth were done by a hack. If your planning on implants, ask the surgeon to show you x-ray examples of his work. Are the implants in straight and evenly spaced, or are they all over the place?

A competent surgeon will have them straight, evenly spaced, just like your normal roots. A hack will make them look just like a hack did them.

Do I like them? You bet. I'm going to have the best looking teeth in the graveyard. :D
