FAASteam Rep

I have been appointed to serve as an FAASteam representative. I just completed the training for it, which was done by way of the internet similar to the online safety courses, but much longer. I went to a seminar for CFI's put on by John Boatright of the Lubbock FSDO and he was pushing for all of us to be reps. I am big on aviation safety, so I applied and was accepted. I was wondering if anyone else here is a rep?

I had to look it up because I didn't have a clue what he meant either. The only thing that came to mind was steam rising from, well...

All I could imagine is a lot of "govmet' hot air. I'm still not convinced that I'm wrong.
