Friends - I'm going to be flying into Monterey, CA (KMRY) on February 6, and departing February 9. Coincidentally, that's the weekend of the Super Bowl in San Francisco, so the FAA is requiring time slot reservations for arrivals and departures at airports in the area.

I've got my reservations, but I've never been in a situation where I have reservation times for arrival and departure. What can I expect from ATC? How lenient (if at all) are they if, for example, I'm 10 minutes late for my arrival?

Any insight into the use of arrival and departure reservations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Did you ask about landing/parking fees? Vegas raised those a good bit for the F1 race, so you may want to call in advance so that you are not surprised.

Yes. That part I understand. More curious about what to expect from ATC.

Are the flights VFR or IFR?

From past experience with slot reservations (although specific to HDTA/e-CVRS), 10 minutes off, if IFR, no biggie.
For VFR, best to be on time and if questioned by ATC, just advise that you have an approved reservation (without mention timing).

It’s been a while but my perception has been there may not be a direct connection between Tracon (radar controllers) and ‘slot reservations’ … at least not for ‘High Density Traffic Airport’ slot reservations.
(reservations for special events likely similar)

For definitive information, use contact associated to slot reservation system (who approve event slot res). e-STMP
or TFM Help Desk (609) 485-9601

Hope this helps.

[Edit: After login, e-STMP is not showing any events. Was another system used to make event slot reservation?]
Update:
PPR required, without mention of e-STMP here:

IFR.

Reservations were made with local KMRY FBO. I received confirmation numbers for arrival and departure times.

Curious - what did the FBO charge? What are you flying?
LAS charges so much, they’ve pretty much priced out GA.

Can’t say for sure but I have worked in the past. Super Bowl at the Rose Bowl 1993. I was an Approach Controller at Burbank KBUR. We did not have a list of the reservations so did not enforce them. My guess is it’s still the same. There’s probably not enough folk missing there ‘window’ that normal sequencing methods would allow the flow to be manageable.

$250, with no daily fees for up to three days.

Cessna 182.

In contrast, I called KSNS, and they didn't ask me what kind of plane I was flying. They quoted me $500 for the reservations, $1,000 to land, and $1,000 to take-off ($2,500 total).

That’s really disappointing - just a blatant money grab. There is no possible way that Salinas could incur extra costs even remotely approaching $2500 per plane to justify the fee. Even if they had all their staff working OT all weekend, they won’t spend that much. Recovering costs is one thing (arguable, but that’s for another thread); turning a profit is something else

I ultimately decided to go to San Luis Obispo (KSBP), rent a car, and have a nice drive up the coast. I decided I didn't want to be in the middle of the Super Bowl cluster-eff, especially on Monday after the game.
