How would any one find all of a single type of aircraft in a zip code

such as a Fairchild 24 in 98277
we do not have the N number or any other data

I simply found an old F-24 in a hoarders back yard.

I asked him about it and If I could buy parts off it, He said it did not belong to him but he has it to be restored, but he has done nothing with it for many years, and would not tell me who it belongs to.

Lots of possibilities, nothing really stands out.

It's sad the answer to my strut problem is less than a mile from here and the owner/? is not willing to sell the parts we need to make three F-24s fly.

Download the FAA aircraft registration database, load it into a tool like Access, and run the appropriate filters. I did a search for Fairchild aircraft in the zip you mention using my December 2012 copy of the database, and only found your airplane (N19143).

I expanded the search to Fairchild 24s registered at zips beginning with "982", and got 6 hits.

Again, this is from a download of the database nearly a year ago.

I do not believe this old chunk of junk is registered, or it could be any of the aircraft on record, I know several of the ones you saw, The Type club doesn't know of any other aircraft in my area either.

This old aircraft has a tree growing in front of it that could not have been there when it was parked. Its frustrating

I talked to the A&P-IA that is holding the F-24 hulk for about 30 minutes today. He is known for hoarding old aircraft, he has a 180 that has a tree the size of a big leg growing thru it, and a lot of other aircraft stuff, like a M20 mooney wood wing. That has been in his garage since the early 80s.

I asked him if his owner would sell the parts we need to make 3 F-24s fly, then he said he hopped to restore it some day, I asked how old he was and he said 77, I know he has had 1 heart attack, so I told him to get real, he would never get to it, and I'll buy it from his wife to clean up the place.

I don't think he liked that, because he hung up on me.

He is one of the 3 A&P-IAs that live and work on this Island. I've known him for many years and it is well known that any "Project' that goes to his house never flys again.

Sad.

I think i would have just shown up with a bunch of $100.00's and see what it would take. That may not be possible now, but you never know.
