This is the first step towards reducing the certification process of many, many items for small aircraft in the interest of safety over redundant, expensive, and rediculous repetative paperwork.

That's a step in the right direction.

I have Alpha systems AOA. Could I fly without it? Sure.

But it's a neat gadget that's inexpensive (comparably speaking) and I think it does help landing consistent.
