Went for my 2nd eye exam to get my glasses prescription renewed. During that visit I got some pictures taken of my retina in place of dilation. The optometrist said the pictures indicated some extra veins in my right eye Retina. He didn't indicate more then that but gave me a card of a Retina MD. I did some google searching found something called Retinal vein Occlusion the cause could be overweight, high BP, diabetes. Well I'm in the BMI range of 35 so not normal weight but working to lose the weight my BP isn't bad 125/72 no diabetes. The question is should I go get this checked out, or wait till after I try to get my Class 3 then get it checked. The optometrist didn't seem to think it was that serious he even said could wait till next year see if it's the same. I saw a ophthalmologist after seeing a floater in my eye who did dilate my eyes about 10 years ago he didn't say anything about extra Veins, but I was 15 years younger. I don't want to be diagnosed with a new hoop to jump though with the FAA. If they do diagnose me with something like Retinal Vein Occlusion will that require a SI? Although reading about Retinal vein Occlusion says could have sudden blindness that got my attention. I think it's referring to an eye vein stroke I haven't had anything like that. He just said extra veins growing are not normal in that area.

Go to the eye doctor. Getting your medical with a blind eye will be a real ***** compared to this.

Go see someone who knows what's on the pictures he takes. In this case probably a retina specialist. Good news, it's probably nothing.

Optometrist - meh, good at selling glasses.
Think a general ophthalmologist could set your mind at ease. Get thee to an MD

Went a real eye doctor said nothing to worry about. I agree Optometrist good at selling glasses about it.
