Evolution at FTG this morning

So this Evolution guy called for his clearance on tower frequency...tower was nice and didn't move him to CD or ground. Mildly annoying because I was ready to depart and couldn't get a word in while the the clearance was read and corrected.

Okay got that nonsense behind and took off for post maintenance flight. Out east of FTG for 20 minutes or so, time to head back. Guess what? Evolution boy is departing. At least the freq is right...so tower launches him and I get to dodge. No way he ever saw me with his nose so high. I'm thinking Evolutions might be worse than cirri....
 
Ashley got hired by the FAA, moved over to DIA, so Gene's got a couple new controllers to train.
The controller sounded a bit exasperated and it was basically dead. Maybe he thought Sunday morning was supposed to be nap time...half of what was said was mumbled and the other half was just my ID so it was an interesting morning. Definitely not the norm for FTG.
 
I think the Garmin active traffic GTS800 system is part of the standard instrument package in those. So even if he didn't see you, it was likely talking in his headset telling him where you were.

The guy is on the wrong freq when calling for a clearance and you think there is a chance that he understands the fish finder? Ummm, maybe you are a natural born optimist. I'm not.

I have to say, it sounds like you're worked up over nothing. The 'delays' you experienced are very, very minor. I assume you're used to being the only aircraft in the pattern when you fly?

1428:55 Z: You're cleared for takeoff. Total delay all of 58 seconds.

1454:10 Z: Traffic called 12 o'clock, 3 miles, 6300 feet, and climbing fast. You're so unexcited you actually yawn during your response.
1454:33 Z: You have the Evo in sight.

I didn't yawn at any point. I was trying to activate brain function...sometimes it is a bit tough.
