I just noticed in a local paper there's an event tomorrow Sat July 11 at Reid-Hillview airport in San Jose.

Hot San Jose Nights 2015. It's not an airplane-only event, but it is at the airport, and the info says some airplanes will be on display, and they're supposed to have some flyovers, stunt pilots, etc.

Thought I'd post in case any folks near San Jose might be interested.

I also just found their website at: http://www.hotsanjosenights.com

It's the STEAM festival. "Science Technology Engineering Arts/Aviation Math."

Looks like fun, but I'll be out of town. It's all day, 8AM-6PM, centered around the terminal. Free admission, but you gotta get there somehow.

They say they expect 10,000 people. I don't know where the hell they expect to park that many. The airport is only closed for 75 minutes, so it's not on the field. Traffic around the Mall is going to suck substantially worse than normal.

Wow - I remember going to some kind of "open airport day" at RHV a few years ago, and was surprised how many people were there, and I bet it was only a fraction of 10k.

I might park at the mall and walk over.

There are a lot of closet aviation enthusiasts in the area.

We once had our ONE airplane have an open house at Moffett, and people lined up for three hours to walk through it. Whole school busses hauling middle school kids on field trips showed up. Just about all of us were floored. That was at least an order of magnitude more interest than we expected.

The next year, we handed out free tickets and got the lines down to 30 minutes or so, reserved.

Of course, saying they expect 10,000 people and having 10,000 people actually show up are not the same….
