I put this here for maximum exposure. A friend has a 6 yr old daughter who suffers epilectic siezures. How do the parents reliably monitor their daughter through the night?

A baby monitor? Already there were a couple times when they woke up almost too late to provide care so they don't trust themselves to respond quickly enough.

There are mattresses that respond to movement but she doesn't convulse during siezures. Pulse oxymeter doesn't work because she pulls the leads off.

The want a reliable method to care for their daughter at home. Is hiring a caretaker the only sure way?

Don't have personal experience, but have heard that certain dogs can, or can be trained to, sense the onset of seizures.

Ditto. I just spoke to someone (a fellow conference attendee who suffers from epilepsy) a couple weeks ago who had one with her, a service dog. Apparently they are near 100% reliable. Weird but true. Bet they could be trained to monitor a child.
