How do you determine the amount?

Got a formula?

Hours to tBO plus all maint costs and a little extra for shipping,I also like to go a couple of hundred hours shy of tBO.

I don't reserve, I figure it's part of the depreciation, but most folks don't think airplanes depreciate.;) But, I would figure the cost of a reman engine plus accessories and labor and divide by the TBO of the engine.:D
For my 182, I would use $25,000.00 + $5000.00 for install and accessories. Or $15.00 per hour, since my engine has 500 since reman, I would divide the $30K by 1500 hours or $20.00 per hour if I started today! :D The prop would add another $1-2.00 per hour for a reseal every 5-7 years.

My method so far:

...fly...fly...fly...fly...fly...bend over its gonna hurt...fly...fly...fly

That's pretty much my reserve program. Fly, hope that nothing breaks before TBO, then you find you have high metal content in the oil and you scramble to get money for an overhaul. :(
