Stats for July, 2011

It was a fairly slow start, but its only a little over a half a month. We're definitely getting back into the swing of things. In August, I'd like to see Michigan and California 100% complete if we can!

Get out and claim those airports!

Man, I wish this had kept going for the last couple of years... I probably could have claimed at least a dozen more airports just from the regular flying I did. Actually, probably more than that because I was doing a lot of flying in Iowa, and easily could have been two or three dozen with the added motivation of claiming 'em...

Sigh. I miss the $70/hr Citabria at IA24. :(

I hear ya. I just found a really cheap club I'm in the midst of joining ($80/hr 172). That should up my flying quite a bit, up until we have a package delivered in a few months, at which point I assume my flying is going to really trail off until the kiddo is a few years old.

We'll see.

It depends what purpose your flying serves. If you take family vacations, the child is naturally going with you. If you take family vacations in the airplane, the child is going flying with you.

My kids are 5 and 2-1/2. The 5yo probably has more than 200 hours and the 2-1/2yo probably has around 100 hours in the plane. Nothing will put a baby to sleep faster than the drone of the engine. Contrary to what others tell, I've never had an issue with 2 kids in the back seat and Mom up front. The earlier the kids start flying the easier it probably is. It's never something they have to learn to do that way. My kids don't know life without flying. The 5yo knows the difference between driving to 6Y9 and flying and she does't much like the drive.

I don't remember which ones in CA you need, or how far they are from O69. If I ever get my cert maybe I can get one.

A28 and KPMD are the closest to you at 245nm and 308nm, respectively. (The good news is, if you do it right, you could get your commercial solo cross country out of the way. ;))

If you leave California, though, (and I highly recommend it :D) 2Q5 and N86 are at 148nm and 159nm, respectively.
