emergency landing on Lake Huron

Have friends that land on Saginaw bay all the time.

7 people on board, I guess one was an infant?

Logbook:

Dep; St Ignace. Arr; L Huron, middle. Time: .8 hours. Notes: Towed by snowmobile back to shore.

Looks like a good landing, must have had actual engine trouble, since the towed the aircraft to the shore.

I am considering a trip over Lake Erie at the end of the week. I was concerned about having to fly lower than I normally like for a lake crossing when it occurred to me that the entire lake is frozen. I think that there might be an increased safety margin in there someplace - maybe I'll just fly under those ice-filled clouds =)

That 135 operator flies pa32-260 as island shuttle. They are available with a 7th seat in row #2. There is a ZFW restricting the weight to 187lbs per pax, everything above has to be fuel. The flight is only 10min VFR so they really only need 20 gallons on board.

That makes sense, short flight made even shorter!;)
