Emergency exit question - especially for Cherokee pilots

I knew a man in Michigan who had survived a float plane crash by kicking out the back window and swimming to the surface of the lake. The two in the front did not survive. Not sure which model - I seem to recall it was a Cessna 182 or 180.

Kick out the plastic windows used for the windshield or side windows. They are thin plastic.

It depends. Some planes have been upgraded to 1/4" for the windows and windshield.
