My 121.5 MHZ ELT antenna has broken off/out of the conical tapered rubber base. The airplane is a 1973 C-150 and it's the standard antenna installed on every other 150, 152, 172, etc. My question is, if I purchase a new one, can I bring it to my A&P/IA to install it (good guy, probably charge me a half hour), or do I have to have an avionics shop charge me God-knows-how-much to unbolt the old one and bolt the new one on and attach the cable?

A&P - depending on your relationship you could DIY and have him check and sign but it actually takes two dudes to do it.

Thank you, you made my Sunday (I wouldn't call the A&P on the weekend). I see what you mean about two people, unless someone had really long arms to hold the antenna while tightening the nut on the inside.
