Here's our Cheetah at Oliver, British Columbia. The occasion was a weekend fly-in of the Northwest chapter of the American Yankee Association. We spent the pleasant late summer weekend getting to know other Grumman owners, and touring local wineries.

One of the attendees was Liz Lane, a spry 82-year-old from Victoria BC, who brought the 1972 AA-1A that she had owned and flown solo since it was new.

When it came time to leave Oliver, Liz invited Cheryl and me to fly to Victoria and join her for a late lunch before heading back across the border. We took a slightly roundabout but very scenic route, via Kelowna, Vernon, Kamloops and the Fraser River Valley, before arriving at Victoria.

We met up with Liz at a little cafe in Sidney, near the Victoria Airport. We finished our meal, said our goodbyes, and flew from Victoria to Boeing Field in Seattle to clear Customs. Then it was back to home base at Vancouver WA shortly before dark. Easy-peasy.

The weather was perfect, the flights were beautiful, the company was delightful, and all was right with the world on that Sunday ... September 9 ... 2001.
